Copyright and DMCA Requests

Raise a creative-rights concern
Roleplay does not remove the rights attached to writing, art, photography, recordings, names, or marks. Use the Legal & Safety Center's copyright form to identify disputed material. General disagreement about a story is not a copyright complaint. We review sufficiently specific notices and may remove or restrict material while a concern is assessed. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information; legally required contact and signature information may need to be provided.
Information for a copyright notice
A notice should identify the work you claim to own or represent; identify the allegedly infringing Republic material with exact URLs; provide a reliable contact method; state that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, an agent, or law; state that the information is accurate and, under penalty of perjury where applicable, that you are authorized to act for the relevant rights holder; and include your physical or electronic signature. For a U.S. DMCA notice, provide the contact details and statements required by 17 U.S.C. § 512, including information reasonably sufficient to contact you. A deliberately false notice can have legal consequences.
Responding to a removal
If material was removed for a copyright claim and you believe the removal was mistaken, use the counter-notice category. Identify the removed material and its former location, explain the mistake, and include your signature and required contact information. A U.S. DMCA counter-notice normally also requires a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, consent to the jurisdiction prescribed by the statute, and acceptance of service from the complaining party. Counter-notice information may need to be forwarded to the original claimant. Do not submit a counter-notice unless you understand those consequences.
Review and restoration
Staff may seek clarification, notify the relevant account, preserve necessary evidence, and consider lawful exceptions such as fair use. Valid statutory procedures and court notices control the applicable timeline. Where the U.S. DMCA process applies, restoration after a qualifying counter-notice ordinarily follows the statutory 10-to-14-business-day process unless the claimant gives notice of a relevant court action. We may keep material unavailable for an independent rule violation, including pornography, child exploitation, or private information, even if a copyright dispute changes. Appropriate action may be taken against repeat infringers.
Designated-agent and jurisdiction information
The legal contact form is an operational complaint channel. Republic does not claim that a fictional institution is a registered DMCA agent or that the service automatically qualifies for a safe harbor. An operator seeking U.S. DMCA safe-harbor protection must designate and publicly identify an actual agent and keep the Copyright Office registration current. Any legally required agent or representative information must be supplied by the operator. Copyright and trademark requirements outside the United States may differ. Use the legal request channel for the applicable contact information and a review of your complaint.
